Jeffrey I. Kreisberg, Ph.D.

Jeffrey KreisbergDr. Jeffrey Kreisberg served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, the Massachusetts General Hospital, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Texas. In San Antonio he was a Professor of Pathology, Medicine, Molecular Medicine, Surgery, and Urology for over 25 years.

While in San Antonio, he did seminal studies on the pathogenesis of diabetic kidney disease, one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality from diabetes. His work was crucial for our understanding of the importance of strict blood glucose control to prevent the complications of diabetes. His work brought in over $4,000,000 from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Diabetes Association, and the American Heart Association to support his research in diabetes.

Dr. Kreisberg was also recognized internationally for his studies on prostate cancer. Some of the techniques he developed in the lab were crucial in performing critical analyses of new drugs to treat head and neck cancers, prostate cancer, and brain tumors. He has served on the editorial board of the American Journal of Physiology- Renal Physiology, he was a member of study sections and merit review boards for the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Dr. Kreisberg also planned and chaired international meetings for the National Institutes of Health, and served on the Program Committee for the American Society of Neprhology, the largest organization of practicing and experimental nephrologists in the world. Dr. Kreisberg was recognized for his research accomplishments by being awarded the position as Senior Career Scientist for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He also has presented his work to medical schools and research institutions in over seven countries. In all, Dr. Kreisberg has published over 200 articles and abstracts in peer reviewed journals, and 12 book chapters and has given over 60 invited presentations.

Presently, Dr. Kreisberg serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for the North Texas Chapter of the National Kidney Foundation, and on the Men’s Health Network. He and his wife started a business, Kreisberg and Associates, LLC , to help people take control of their healthcare by providing them with the information they need to get the right care.
